Why Advertise on Internet Radio?

The Following regarding Internet Radio Potential is from Forbes – Author David Porter

Internet Radio potential can be the most ubiquitous form of media ever. More commanding of your attention than film, television, or books. This is because listening to music can be enjoyed while doing other activities.

Furthermore, here is an important distinction: there are two types of listeners, lean back and lean forward. Lean back listeners hear music programming via a playlist or radio station (think “set it and forget it”), whereas lean forward listeners actively select individual songs. The majority of people prefer a lean back experience.

  • Internet radio plays far fewer commercials per hour, which results in higher listener attention levels, increasing the ad’s intended effect.
  • Listeners are just a click away from your website as they are already online and very likely have browser windows (or an app) open, increasing the odds of them hitting your site.
  • Internet Radio listeners are a highly active group of consumers with an above average level of purchase intention. See this 2015 report – still very relevant.

In 2014, one third of Americans used their phones to stream music. Young adults (18-24) listened to internet radio more than terrestrial. Two of the top five most popular apps in America (Pandora and Youtube) are used for streaming music. With Americans now spending more time on their phones than watching television, there has never been a more opportune time to maximize internet radio experiences. Many Listeners

I have the pleasure (and when I say pleasure I mean it does not feel like work) of programming a widely listened to Internet Radio Station. There are literally hundreds of unique worldwide listeners every day, with many of them listening for hours, sometimes days. The idea is to get your Product or Service heard by the Internet Masses. The flow of the radio station consists of my personal favorites, of which I am sure many of them are your favorites. The tunes range from the 60s on up through the years, in a loose chronological order, keeping styles of music grouped. The flow actually makes sense, and is not a random hodgepodge of songs thrown together.

This is not just endless music. For many years I worked in radio as a professional, programming the music, recording ads, announcing the news, etc. There was always a vision of how I wanted a radio station to sound. I rarely heard it, until now. I know will like like how this sounds.

What is Your Internet Radio Potential? Your audience is the entire world. We promote, and boy do we promote! We are able to track when and where the listeners are coming from, how long they listen, what songs are on when they join and leave, as well as many other stats. If you have a product or service, it belongs here on our Internet Radio Station. I, Chris Jones, can voice your message, or you can. You will get professionalism at the highest level. I had many years in the radio business and am looking forward to making your message standout.

I began broadcasting on a College Radio Station at SUNY Plattsburgh (NY, USA) in 1979, and was a professional broadcaster for a long while. Once that Radio bug hit, I was infected forever. This Internet Radio station features 50 years of personal favorites; tunes with energy and passion! With years of experience under my belt, you won’t find a more qualified, dignified or electrified person to throw down the music and personality for your ears. I present, for your listening entertainment, my Personal Favorites, sprinkled with Personality and Fun. The playlist is evolving and ever expanding. This Radio Station is a Labour of Love with a playlist that can take you through your workday without a repeat.

Radio History

In 1979-1980 I was an aspiring radio announcer at the Plattsburgh State University College radio station called WPLT (different now). I spent some time on Campus perfecting my craft, and after a while I decided that an actual job in radio was what I was after. It was in April 1980 that Gordie Little at WIRY 1340am must have seen something in me, and I was hired at WIRY. This was an awesome thing for me, as Gordie’s guidance was the catalyst that kept me going in radio for a very long time after I had left Plattsburgh. The man was a gem, the purest human being you’d ever want to meet. His style of radio inspired me. The way he communicated with everyone, on and off the radio, was inspiring and formed the basis of how I went from radio into sales, and how I still communicate with people on a daily basis. I consider myself lucky and blessed to have known Gordie Little. Gordie Passed on 22 June, 2016. Rest In Peace.

Other Places

I stayed at WIRY in Plattsburgh until sometime in 1981 there were aspirations to check out other markets, namely Burlington, Vermont. Employment was secured at WJOY 1230am, where some good friends were made. In 1983 another move was in order, back across Lake Champlain, down the lake a bit, into Ticonderoga NY. In Ticonderoga I did some work on two different radio stations, an AM and an FM. That was fun until about 1984 when I found myself down in Glens Falls NY at WWSC 1450am, where a professional by the name of Dave Covey taught me a few things about how radio is done. WWSC was a lot like WIRY in that they were/are both hometown radio stations, broadcasting at 1000 watts of power, in their respective markets. I stayed in the Glens Falls NY radio market until about 1993, having then got into sales.

Time Marches On

The radio bug has never left me. I have programmed one or more #InternetRadio stations since 2005 – ever evolving the playlists and station flow. I present to you my Personal Favorites!
